Closed-form solutions to the basic model for the photo-induced metastable transformation of EL2 centers in semi-insulating material were studied. Conditions for the existence of maxima in the optical absorption, photo-capacitance and electron paramagnetic resonance transients were determined. Several methods were proposed for the estimation of the initial fraction of neutral EL2 defects, and of the cross-section for metastable transformation, on the basis of the dynamics of so-called fingerprint transients.
