It was recalled that the Mg-, Cu- and P-doped material was an important phosphor for the dosimetry of ionizing radiation using thermoluminescence. Luminescence processes in this phosphor were not well understood, and the purpose of the various impurities had not been properly explained. Experimental evidence was presented here which showed that Cu+ was the luminescence center in this phosphor.
