A computer model which was based upon the Poisson equation was developed and was treated numerically in order to study transient and steady-state transport phenomena in O-ZrO2 systems. The model was analyzed for the case of potentiometric operation, but could easily be extended so as to treat the case of amperometric operation. The model was applicable to both solid ionic conductors and mixed conductors.
