The core structures of a dislocations on prism planes were studied, in polycrystalline samples which had been deformed at room temperature, by using experimental and computational transmission electron microscopic techniques. A comparison of the experimental and computer-simulated weak-beam images of prism-plane a dislocations indicated that the image peak separation that was observed experimentally in typical weak-beam images significantly overestimated the actual super-partial dislocation separation. The image simulations also suggested that a recently reported 4-peak weak-beam image was inconsistent with the 4-fold dissociation of a single super-dislocation.
