The dynamic theory of electron diffraction for quasicrystals was used to treat this splitting behavior. The effects of various parameters upon the splitting of the higher-order Laue lines were calculated. On the basis of the calculations, convergent-beam electron diffraction patterns for an Al-Cu-Fe icosahedral quasicrystal were simulated. The good agreement between experiment and simulation confirmed the applicability of the dynamic theory of electron diffraction to quasicrystals.
