A study was made of the effect of rapid thermal annealing upon the O and C contents of various monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples. By comparing the effects of conventional and rapid annealing, it was deduced that an increase in the concentration of interstitial O after a short annealing time was due to the dissociation and dissolution of micro-precipitates.
