A study of the recovery of this alloy revealed a logarithmic time dependence of the mechanical properties. This was linked to an initially rapid decrease in the dislocation density, as observed by transmission electron microscopy, which was followed by slow sub-grain growth. A 3-dimensional simulation of plastic flow and dislocation movement produced a deformed single crystal, for which the work-hardening rate was in agreement with published data.
