The mass dependence of Co diffusion was measured, in structurally relaxed melt-spun metallic glass, by using radio-tracer techniques together with ion-beam sputtering serial sectioning. No isotope effect (or one of less than 0.06) was detected within the experimental accuracy. This result was explained in terms of a collective diffusion mechanism which involved many atoms.
