A study was made of the evolution of microstructures during thermal cycling. It was found that, in the case of bulk material, large numbers of dislocations formed during cycling. In the case of melt-spun material which contained a dispersion of fine precipitates, the formation of dislocations during thermal cycling was much reduced.
