It was pointed out that such simulations permitted the study of both the deformation microstructures and related mechanical properties of a small model face-centered cubic crystal. Emphasis was here placed upon local rules, and especially upon the formation and destruction of the reaction junctions which governed the strain-hardening properties. The results were applied to strain hardening in multiple slip, to the stress-strain behavior, and to strain localization by glide-softening in alloys.
