It was noted that modern neutron scattering techniques could provide structural and dynamic information, on complex molecular systems, over 3 to 4 decades spatially and 8 to 9 decades temporally. Much of this work now concerned the properties of H bonds, the dynamics of protonated groups, mode-coupling effects, and hydration processes. The capabilities of neutron studies in this area were outlined and illustrated.
