Molecular dynamics calculations were used to study cascade damage that was initiated by a primary 250eV knock-on atom. The thermodynamic characteristics of the cascade were investigated by using a Morse potential and it was found that, during the cooling phase of the cascade, local equilibrium was established. The evolution of the cascade was also monitored by using a simple embedded atom method, and the effects of the initial target temperature upon the cascade process were determined.
