Serial sectioning techniques were used to study the isotope effect for the diffusion of 105Ag and 111Ag in AgBr and AgBr-0.08%CdBr2 (table 1). The AgBr crystals contained about 0.1ppm of impurities. The CdBr2-doped specimens were polycrystalline, with a mean grain diameter of 4mm. The results for Cd-doped AgBr were consistent with a vacancy mechanism.
