Solid solutions of this type were found to exhibit far higher conductivities than were expected. Diffusion and electromigration experiments revealed that both Li+ and Na+ ions were very mobile. It was concluded that the Li+ ions occupied interstitial positions of the form, (½,0,0), while vacancies were created in the Na+ lattice.
