Some stacking faults with a series of cross fringes were observed in solutionized samples of the super-alloy. The segregation of Nb atoms on the (111) plane of the matrix was suggested to have produced the fringes by their insertion as a (111) plane between two (111) matrix planes. The difference in lattice parameter, between the thin crystal-like plane of segregated Nb atoms and the matrix, created a series of parallel Moire fringes and explained the 2 sets of intersecting fringes which were seen.
