It was recalled that recent experimental progress had made it possible to determine quickly the crystallographic characteristics of a large number of grain boundaries. Such methods were applied here to Inconel 600 with a weak rolling texture and to highly fiber-textured Al thin films. It was shown that the occurrence of coincidence site lattices was very high in the Inconel 600; in disagreement with theoretical predictions. Theory and experiment agreed in the case of the Al film.
