The ionic mobility, conductivity, number of charge carriers and transference number were determined for annealed and rapidly quenched mixed systems. It was found that quenched mixed systems exhibited the highest Ag+ conductivity (0.000314S/cm for 3:1 AgI/AgCl solutions at 27C). The conductivity enhancement in the quenched system was attributed to the formation of new disordered phases and to the introduction of amorphicity. A simple space-charge model which was applicable to annealed systems failed to explain these results.
