An ozonide ion was detected in monocrystals by means of electron paramagnetic resonance techniques. These data supported a mono-vacancy model for the location of the O3- ion in alkali halides. Theoretical calculations, using self-consistent field Hartree-Fock methods, were performed in order to determine the principal g-tensor values for the O3- molecular ion. The results were in good agreement with experimental data.
