An investigation was made of the preparation, morphology, structure, thermal expansion, surface composition, and electronic and ionic conductivities of perovskites. The ionic conductivities (table 18) were determined by using encapsulated zirconia micro-electrodes, and a Hebb-Wagner analysis of the current versus voltage curves. The electrode kinetics, studied using complex impedance spectroscopy, suggested that Co- and Ni-doped manganites had advantages when used as electrodes; as compared with noble metals.
