An interacting adsorbate was analyzed with the aid of a master equation for the lattice-gas model. The chemical diffusion coefficient for the dilute interacting adsorbate was calculated by using concepts of diffusion theory in a disordered medium in which the random potential was related to the local field that affected each particle, due to particle interactions. The random local field method was used to evaluate the distribution of local fields in the equilibrium state. The results which were obtained for the simplest interacting lattice gas compared well with Monte Carlo simulations.
