A modified electrostatic model for impurity diffusion was applied to self-diffusion in dilute alloys, and to interdiffusion. The calculated enhancement factors and vacancy flow factors were compared with experimental data. It was demonstrated that the results of recent electron density calculations, and vacancy concentration measurements in dilute alloys, were incompatible with impurity diffusion coefficients in Cu and Ag.
