Electron spin resonance and photoluminescence spectra were used to elucidate point defect phenomena in crystals which had been grown by using the travelling heater method. An isotropic paramagnetic center was found in crystals which were as-grown or annealed in various gaseous media. The presence of the donor singlet, VSe+, was detected in as-grown and H-annealed crystals.
