Electromigration experiments were performed, on AgCl-LiCl single-crystal couples, using current densities of 2 to 5mA/cm2. The Li concentration was determined by serial sectioning and layer-by-layer isotopic analysis. The results (table 53), for temperatures of 250 to 400C, could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 10 exp[-1.04(eV)/kT]

with an average isotope effect of 0.65. These results indicated that Li diffused in AgCl via a vacancy mechanism.
