Average dislocation densities, net dislocation polarization and average dislocation density fluctuations of dislocation structures in single crystals which had been deformed in uniaxial compression, were measured by means of X-ray line-profile analysis. It was found that, during plastic deformation, the dislocation density increased monotonically while the average fluctuation exhibited a maximum at the transition from stage-II to stage-III work-hardening. The fractal properties of the dislocation structure were also investigated, and a strong correlation was found between the fractal dimension and the relative dislocation-density fluctuation.
