A method was suggested for calculating concentration-independent diffusion coefficients.A method was suggested for calculating concentration-independent diffusion coefficients. It was based upon the expansion of concentration profiles into Fourier series, and the solution of the equation for the evolution of the amplitude of an individual Fourier harmonic. In contrast to previous methods, the present one imposed no restrictions on the form of the initial and boundary conditions. The method was tested by determining impurity-diffusion coefficients for Mn in Fe-3wt%Si alloy. The results which were obtained agreed well with the data which were obtained by using the method of probabilistic diagrams, and the Matano technique.
