Experimental observations were made of morphological and chemical changes in superplastically deformed samples of Zn-22%Al alloy. It was shown that the superplastic deformation had a marked effect upon diffusional mass transfer. It was concluded that a specific feature of the superplastic-deformation development of bands of cooperative grain-boundary sliding could explain the effect.
