New data on diffusion in solids were obtained. It was noted that Fick’s law was a particular case of a more general law, and an effect of anharmonism upon the diffusion coefficient was noted. Explanations were offered for the Kirkendall effect, the Ludwig-Soret effect and negative diffusion. Rules were formulated for determining the fundamental properties of diffusion in solids. A diffusional-dilatometric effect in crystalline solids was established.
