The mechanisms which were responsible for the formation of a misfit dislocation, in a lattice-mismatched system that involved the glide of dislocations to misfit interfaces, were studied by using molecular dynamics simulations of a 2-dimensional Lennard-Jones system. The results clearly showed how the strain which was due to the lattice-mismatched interface acted as a driving force for dislocation migration. Dislocation reactions were identified in which the glide planes of the dislocations changed so that they could migrate to the interface.
