The contribution which pinned twist disclinations made to the specific heat of crystals was studied by using the vibrating string model. The line tension and effective mass of a sliding twist disclination were calculated. Both properties were found to vary, along the disclination line, according to z2. An heterogeneous string model was therefore developed in order describe the vibrating pinned twist disclination. A solution was obtained to the equation of motion of the heterogeneous string. The specific heat due to twist disclinations was found to be a linear function of the temperature and the defect density.
