Light-scattering techniques showed that the diffusion of Ba2+ in crystals, at temperatures ranging from 690 to 760C, could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 0.26 exp[-1.2(eV)/kT]

The bond energy of Ba plus cation-vacancy dipoles was determined to be 0.4eV. The diffusion of Ba proceeded via a dipole mechanism.
