A review was presented of the theoretical basis, experimental considerations, data analysis and applications of studies of grain misorientations in cubic materials. It was noted that recent advances in experimental techniques, which had permitted huge sample populations of misorientations to be collected, posed problems in the sense of balancing detail against convenience.
