Data on impurity diffusion in the β-phase were re-analysed on the basis that the vacancy migration enthalpy, Hm, as well as the vacancy formation enthalpy, Hf, depended upon temperature. A simple linear temperature dependence, of the form:
H(T) = H(To) + αk(T – To)
was used. The analysis showed that the impurity diffusion energy, Q, increased linearly with α2:
Q(Tm) = Qo(Tm) + 8(α2 – αo)
where Qo and αo pertained to self-diffusion.
