A manometric method was used to determine the chemical diffusion coefficient of La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 at 500 to 850C. When using the present method, the progress of a chemical reaction (such as O incorporation into a non-stoichiometric oxide) could be monitored via the determination of changes in O partial pressure. It was observed that the diffusion data which were obtained for oxidation and reduction differed in both absolute value and temperature dependence.
