The protonic conductivity of SrZr0.95M0.05O3 monocrystals, where M3+ was Y3+, Sc3+, Yb3+ or Er3+, were studied. Protonic conductivity was found for 4 acceptor ions; thus indicating that the protons migrated by hopping from site to site. The Yb-doped crystals had the lowest activation energy, and the highest conductivity among the 4 acceptor ions. This was considered to be due to the difference in strength of the O-H bond for the various acceptor dopants.
