First-principles theory was used to investigate the donor levels of substitutional pnictogen (N, P, As, Sb) and chalcogen (S, Se, Te) impurities and chalcogen-H defects. It was found that substitutional S was a deep donor, while As and Sb had donor levels which were markedly shallower than P; which was currently the most effective shallow donor found by experiment.
