Chronopotentiometry was used to study the diffusion of Th4+ in KCl-NaCl melts which contained ThCl4 or ThF4. The results (table 102) showed that the addition of F ions to the electrolyte resulted in a decrease in the diffusivity of Th4+. This was related to a strengthening of the bonds between the Th and F ions, and a corresponding decrease in the mobility of the ions.
