A sectioning technique was used to study the diffusion of 42K in solid solutions at 660C (table 107). An extension of phenomenological and kinetic theories was used to treat chemical diffusion, for the case of variable partial molar volumes. A comparison with the experimental results indicated a good agreement with Darken's expression for the chemical diffusion coefficient.
