The phase diagram of the system was determined by using differential thermal and X-ray diffraction analyses. The system contained one intermediate compound having the spinel structure, Li2-2xFe1+xCl4, where x ranged from 0.05 to 0.20. The conductivity of the spinel was investigated between room temperature and 500C. It was found that the conductivity increased with increasing x-value. The highest conductivity, of 1.3 x 10-5S/cm, at room temperature (0.1S/cm at 400C) corresponded to an x-value of 0.20.
