The elastic and electrical fields which were produced by a straight screw dislocation in 2 dissimilar piezo-electric layers were analyzed by using conformal mapping techniques. The solution for a semi-infinite piezo-electric bi-material was used as a basis. An explicit expression was given for the image force which acted on the dislocation. The equilibrium position of the dislocation was then determined by setting the image force equal to zero. In the case where one of the 2 layers was pure elastic, numerical results for the image force illustrated the effect of piezo-electric phenomena upon the behavior of the dislocation.
