The permeation of D through the martensitic steel, F82H, was investigated at 573 to 873K, and 102 to 103Pa, in 2 series of experiments with different surface conditions. The
experiment was compared with diffusion calculations. The effective values of the diffusion coefficients and solubilities were obtained. Both the permeation and accumulation curves were analyzed. It was concluded that the latter could be misleading when judging the quality of the experiment and the validity of the diffusion approach.
