The N-vacancy-H complex in free-standing N-doped isotopically engineered single crystals, synthesized by chemical vapor deposition, was studied. The H atom was located in the vacancy of a nearest-neighbor N-vacancy defect, and appeared to be bonded to the N atom which maintained the trigonal symmetry of the center. The defect was detected, by electron paramagnetic resonance, in the negative charge state in samples which contained a suitable electron donor; such as NS0.
