New La1-xSr1+xInO4-d compounds were synthesized and identified by using the powder X-ray diffraction method. At x-values of 0 to 0.2, the La1-xSr1+xInO4-d compounds were prepared by heating at 1573K in air for 36h to give a single phase. Rietveld analysis of their X-ray diffraction data revealed that La1-xSr1+xInO4-d compounds possessed the orthorhombic K2NiF4-type structure. Measurements of electrical conductivity as a function of the O partial pressure revealed oxide-ion conduction for samples below PO2 = 10-12atm, with x = 0, and below 10-5atm for x = 0.1 and 0.2. At high O partial pressures, there was a hole-conduction contribution.
