Interphase boundary structures were compared for lath-shaped bainitic ferrite in Fe-2Si-1Mn-0.6C and lath martensite in Fe-20Ni-5.5Mn. Both laths exhibited a macroscopic habit plane, scattered around (121)γ, which contained monatomic steps with a (111)γ||(011)α terrace (transformation dislocations/structural ledges). Similar accommodation dislocations with a pure screw nature, on (111)γ||(011)α, were observed in both cases.
