Proposed non-linear steady-state concentration profiles for H diffusion in elastic metallic membranes were investigated by means of mathematical analysis and numerical simulations. It was shown that the non-linear distribution was non-existent, and that the linear form was the only possible solution for an ideal solid-solution phase.
