The generation of lattice defects and their effects upon H absorption properties were investigated. The material exhibited a pressure-composition behaviour which changed with the number of cycles. The introduction of dislocations and cracks occurred during each absorption cycle. The response to hydrogenation seemed to be closely related to the ductility.
