A new generalized X-ray pole figure method was developed in order to determine the distributions of c- and a-dislocations in the α-Zr crystallites of Zr-based alloys. The method used the Warren approach to the treatment of X-ray line profiles, as acquired separately for all grain orientations by moving the sample during texture measurements. For the first time, the obtained values of the dislocation densities were presented as distributions, which depended upon the grain orientations in the stereographic projection, as well as the distributions of grain volume fractions. The main advantage of the method used, as compared with the standard one, was the systematic description of the orientational inhomogeneity of dislocation distributions. This inhomogeneity proved to be very significant in both as-rolled and annealed specimens. The features of the dislocation distributions in tube samples were closely related to their crystallographic textures.
