The investigation of point defects in such compounds was reviewed. Upon examining structural data, lattice constants, vacancy concentrations and defect concentrations, it became clear that the traditional classification (ASD or TRD) of point defect behavior in B2-type intermetallics was too simplified. It was suggested that B2 alloys were commonly in the hybrid state. This was supported by thermodynamic calculations that were based upon the hybrid defect model.
