A theoretical investigation was made of the diffusion and thermally activated redistribution of interstitial impurity atoms (H, C) in the bulk and surface of crystalline films and massive AB crystals. The crystals had body-centered cubic lattices, and various types of free facet. Changing the temperature or pressure led to redistribution of the C atoms in the system. Thermally activated processes of C atom redistribution among the volumetric and surface film interstices in AB alloy were investigated. Formulae were derived for the equilibrium concentrations of interstitial atoms, and for the relaxation times for interstitial atom redistribution.
