A new method was suggested for calculating displacements and splitting of local vibrations of interstitial atoms upon their interaction with one another and with other defects. An allowance for lattice relaxation around a defect complex, and for the elastic interactions of distortion fields in this complex, made it possible to explain experimental results on the splitting of local modes that could not be explained without making such allowances.
