A study was made of the instability of Cl-related deep defects in ZnSe by means of far-infrared magneto-optical absorption measurements. Zeeman absorption corresponding to 1s-2p+ transition of electrons bound to Cl donors was observed under photo-excitation. The absorption intensity increases with the lapse in time after photo-excitation, and saturates in approximately 1h. These results suggested the presence of deep states in the mid-gap, which were evidently associated with its photo-induced transformation.
